Now That We Are All Ghosts

USS BATTLESHIP

USS BATTLESHIP Live, they have a real groovy Vic Chesnutt meets Falco from McClusky/Christian Fitness vibe. The album has soul. Fun basslines, good tones, and great vocal performances. Ace. Favorite track: The Ghost This Time.

doug m. There's sparse, finger-picked banjo and full-band distorted roar, all in the same song. There's toe-tapping, head-nodding songs wiith insistent rhythms and there's slow, sway back and forth songs with textures built on keyboards and reverb pedals with the mix dialed all the way up. The lyrics and guitar/banjo rightly take center stage. The bass shows up again and again as the secret weapon, never stealing your attention but always rewarding it.

Go have a listen! Favorite track: Let Me Talk You Through This One.

Conan Neutron Doom Chamber-America fans rejoice! Milwaukee's Resurrectionists have finally unleashed a full length record! Recommended for fans of Television (the band), Yo La Tengo, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds (minus the goth) and the Mekons. This uniquely original band is well worth your time and earspace.

Oh yeah, and that feedback banjo stuff is The Way (tm) Favorite track: (hotel with pool).

A classic dictionary of the vulgar tongue Fell open and filled our lungs With the dust of affidavit men That encyclopedia of the vulgar tongue Balked and threw its rider Slipped its reins in the library Who would have thought This is how we’d come undone Oh boy here it comes Come on let’s watch them Swearing for hire Consign these things to the fire We really did it this time Crackling the flames of cracker minstrels Back in our golden trenches We rode those benches right out of town Oh boy here it comes
2.
What if I’m the one they find, unrecognizable What it I’m the one they find That skull burns slow you know So dreadfully close to ordinary time No festival of elevation, no new reason to die So dreadfully close to ordinary time That skull burns slow you know As we do as we please So please, she wheezed In the days before she was living clean What if I’m the one they find
3.
But for how long must I go on missing you For how long The days they are pointless and the nights are too long Time it is ruthless darling, and I am not strong Days run into days Nights run into nights Hey, hey when you’re away Nothing is alright My heart is not the problem that it should be While we ask whether we should see Anything in this fog What fails to arrive is the ghost of this time Hungry and failing and fine For how long will this go on What’s a frail heart to do We’ll go on missing Until the night is through How long can this go on What are we all to do The fog is lifting The sky is true What fails to arrive is the ghost of this time Hungry and failing and fine

There’s a couple things we should ask About his death mask There’s a couple things we should ask About his sticky whiskers About the golden age And ask again What happens next He doesn’t know, and we know that he doesn’t know But still we ask Because we’ve forgotten how to stop It’s an aberration we say on this unfair day But perhaps we’re afraid That fine young frame Has already slipped away We wane and we become wax That smirking mask That theater of dead medicine There's a couple things we should ask
5.
All the booze in the world won’t bring her back And you’re walking that building alone All the booze in the world won’t get you on the right track And you’re walking that building alone It’s 3 am and you shouldn’t be there They’ve locked the ladders to the stairs Vandals need a new home Where it’s quiet and cold And we can tear down the walls in peace Oh never you fear All our friends are here I’m teetotal terrific, out of my mind for you
6.
The new winter isn’t new, it’s just the old one again Bodies in the snow vanish with the thaw Or, better put, they wait for the thaw to withdraw again Mystery now known, how far we’d go All my clocks are creaking My bones they’re speaking at once Thirty years gone And I haven’t gotten to the bottom of this The new winter isn’t new, it’s just the old one again Bodies in the snow vanish with the thaw Mystery now known, how far we’d go I’m well aware that young folks go to the dogs much too easily here So put the city on lockdown put it on quarantine Because he’s sweating he’s stumbling he’s shaking And he can hardly see I haven’t gotten to the bottom of this

Blue Henry 04:30
Let’s bleed out like roses Red like beets Let’s slip out from under their noses Let’s slip out from under their feet We’re dying so quickly now that no one can see us We’re fading so fast but we never quite seem to go away We say next time we will learn how to begin But until then we pretend like the world is beginning to end The ghost appeared but was mute You hoped it would speak but it won’t speak to you To the toe crackers and their publicists it whispers only arthritis It was strange how that skeleton speaks Strange how hard he tried It was almost like he just didn’t know how to lie He had the earth in his mouth while the worms danced around the square He surely and truly did love living well He said it’s been a long time coming, brother But surely I’ll be young til the end of my days But what, or whom, was he dodging When he hid that once so open gaze? Now that we are all ghosts we will be younger soon

Chatterlaugh talking antiques And draughts and Primogeniture Just as good as happening The heathens took home the trophy Hurrah hurrah Just as good as pride The boxes are full The chests are strapped And I’m afraid My eyes are getting flatter Just as good as happening Hope I die before I happen
9.
You will get sick and die And I Will be alone by myself Or You will get wings and fly And I Will be left on a shelf But I can’t wait to begin our life together Mama I’m an orphan And this is important Mama I’m an orphan And I don’t expect you to understand We wait and we are rewarded It’s not fair, and we don’t care It’s an orphan thing An orphan dare Font and fountain on the holy mountain You’re not here and we’re not there I can’t wait to begin our life together Can’t wait to begin
